Location based apps are all in the hype at the moment. But to be honest it is a small revolution, people can be connected to places to areas which means they can be provided with much more relevant information on their surroundings. People want to be connected to people locally and want information about their very own environement. Google already understood that a long time ago, when you are based in Siberia you are more likely to be directed to siberian websites logical.
What anttenna does, as they call it, is to facilitate person-to-person exchanges in real-time. What you must be thinking now is well Graiglist already does that. One difference is that antenna is more focused on day-to-day small exchanges or events, some exemples are: Got an extra ticket? Need an extra ticket? Lost your dog? Having a yard sale or an open house?
It turns traditional classified listings into geo-tagged twitter sized microlistings. Which makes those listings more efficient with a nice push notification which alerts you when something is happening close to your location . The real innovation i think is the it considerably reduces the length of the traditional exchange process. Please see bellow a video that illustrates the app and an illustration of the 3 step it takes to make a successful exchange.
